All I can say is that the second blast must have been fueled by a lunchcart burrito!
We were using this big expensive thermal camera at work the other day, looking for hot spots in a capacitor cabinet. Naturally we all took turns learning to use it, looking at each other and the lights and windows, etc.
Everyone talked about how neat it would be if we could sneak it out of work for a night, borrow it just to check for heat loss around the home and do appropriate repairs. Sure, I get that, but everyone looked at me like I was off my rocker when I mused that it’d be fascinating to hook up to a video feed and record yourself having sex to watch the thermal changes.
Well, it would!

I’ve seen this clip before, and it seems fake to me. Generally, lighter=warmer, right? But the “fart” is black. It should be nearly body temperature. I think that a can of spray paint (or some other aerosol) was used, concealed on the far side of the ersatz wind-breaker. Aerosols tend to be cold upon release from their pressurized can, hence the dark hue of the cloud.
I thought the same thing. It’s a phony.
I don’t see anything in Snopes regarding this. Anybody got a good de-bunking (cause if not, I’d like to send it to everyone I know. 
)?
I haven’t seen the video, I’m on a dialup connection and don’t feel like waiting an hour or so for it to download. But I’ve worked on infrared sights before and, at least the ones I’ve worked on, can be switched from lighter=hotter to darker=hotter. But I would be suspicious if it looked like everything else was hot except the fart itself.
Dude, this is totally fake. He makes sure to hide his left hand because he’s obviously spraying something with it. And he’s wearing pants… there’s no way it would come out in a straight line like that.
Unless the blast blew a hole in his pants.
More seriously, fake fart or not, I can’t help but think the effect would have been more aesthetically pleasing if the guy had been facing the other way.
Fake. There is a guy who walks by just before, and his hand is light colored, his clothing dark. Thus, lighter is warmer. Also the guy who does it has dark fingertips - it looks just like an image I saw of someone who just smoked a cigarette - it closes the capillaries in the extremeties and they get cooler. And, expanding gas from aerosols is cold…thus the dark cloud. I’d even guess that it was just a can of air (like the ones used to clean keyboards) which would make it less noticable in a crowd. And it was MUCH darker than anything else, whereas a fart would be body temperature - just slightly warmer than the skin.

I didnn’t notice the color so much as the angle. It looks like it comes out parallel to the ground.
