Inked Folks - Why SHOULDN'T I get a tattoo?

Pretty much just seconding everything said here.

I got my tattoo about 8 years after I decided I wanted one (because I was underage and no WAY would my parents give permission :p), I’ve had it about 5 years now and still love it, though like delphica I sometimes forget I even have it.

Most of those 8 years I would flip flop about what I wanted, but the last couple of years I settled on what and found a style I loved. When I had the cash after I was legal, I went and got it.

Now I’ve been pondering my next tattoo since a couple months after I got the first one. This one I’ve known the design I want for the last few years, it’s just a matter of coming up with the cash to go to a good place.

This will be my last tattoo though, I don’t want or need a lot of ink.

Oh and if you’re like me I don’t think Spartydog’s analogy works. I’ve been wearing the same necklace (only replaced the cord) for the last 7 years and very rarely, if ever, take it off.

My tattoo is also in an easily hideable place. It can be visible when I want, or not as I prefer.

Please make sure you give a lot of thought to placement. A girl I went through basic training with got one on her tummy near her hip. I remember thinking,“Sure, nice and taut now, wait until you have kids.”

Just give some thought to how your body may change.

That said, I have been thinking about one for a while. I am thinking on my lower back, near my butt. It was one of the few places that didn’t stretch out during my pregnancy.
