I Tattoo, Do You?

Is it weird that I am hesitating to get a another tattoo because I am embarrassed by my body and don’t want the tattoo artist to judge me?..insecurity sucks. :frowning:

Anyway, this is what I want to get.

The idea I have in my head is a full color version on my left shoulder extending across my shoulder blade, with two of the Scorpio babies holding hands with tails intertwined, one in blue one the dark pink or purple (whatever would look best on my skin tone) with the stars and waves interspersed to make it interesting. I have had this idea of 5 years and still have not gotten up the nerve to just do it.

I already have one tattoo (pic here http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m217/asahlin2/mytat.jpg ) so I am not afraid of getting one except for the uncomfortable feeling I get when I think about exposing my naked back to someone I don’t know.
So any of you have tattoos? Have an idea you want to get for a tattoo? Any funny, scary, interesting tattoo stories? I’d love it if you shared here

I tattoo, true, like you. I fondue too! Do you fondue?

hardy har har

I have the words “something about them suggesting massive insurance coverage” somewhere on by body. It’s my only tattoo.

I just read an article about the singer Rihanna. It was saying she had just gotten a new tattoo - her nineteenth!

she is young, rich, and unfettered. I would be less surprised if she didn’t have them. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Taylor Swift had at least a few.

Moved Cafe Society --> IMHO.

Sorry, I debated on whether this was a IMHO or Cafe Society because it wasn’t about MHO on tattoos or tattooing butt rather their artistic, creative, and cultural merit and prevalence.

But IANAM

I’ve got this one on my right upper arm.

Ooo, very pretty.
Here’s mine. I have yet to take a really clear, updated shot.

Maybe this weekend.

Don’t be insecure in the least getting a new tattoo. I guarantee you the artist has seen (and smelled) much, much worse things than your back. And I don’t see anything wrong with your back in the photo with your existing tattoo.

I have 3 tattoos right now and am thinking about a 4th. One on my back between my shoulder blades, one on my left bicep, and one my right shoulder. The one on my bicep - although it looks pretty cool - was a horrible idea. I was dating an ex-girlfriend and we took a trip to Thailand. When we got back, I thought we would be together forever, get married, blah, blah, gag. So I got her name tattooed, in Thai script, across my bicep.

Fast forward 2 months and she starts dating someone else…ooops. Now, at least its in Thai, so no one knows what it says unless they actually ask…or I’m at Thai restaurant with my current girlfriend and the waitress asks “Who’s Monica?” or “Is this the Monica you have on your arm?” You don’t want to see the looks I get after that.

I have five: cat face on left ankle, flowers on right foot extending to ankle, small rose on my right collar bone, ladybug behind my right ear, and a largish dragonfly between my shoulder blades. The small rose is crappy and I’m debating as to what I want to cover it with. TheKid just got a new one (three bats) and I really liked the artist’s work, so I will probably go to him for ideas and the actual tattoo.

Just an aside- this is the artwork I had the cat face drawn from Black Cat Eyes

AdmiralQ is correct. The tattoo artist has seen worse than whatever you have to offer. To get a tattoo on your upper back, you wouldn’t have to take your shirt completely off. Wear an over-sized button up shirt, unbutton the top few and drape it down your back, uncovering the area to be tattooed.

Your existing piece is very pretty and interesting. I have 14 tattoos and plans to start a couple bigger pieces, including a full sleeve.

I got that first one after 3 years of planning and consideration. I got it originally based on the Roman God Janus, who is the god of new beginnings, life events, temples, etc. Sometimes he is depicted with one old face and once young face to represent looking to your past and future. I got it on my 25th birthday to symbolize myself breaking into a new chapter in my life and looking forward to my future, then a few months later I found out I was already 3 months pregnant with twins so my choice of getting two young looking androgynous faces was pretty prophetic, as I ended up having a boy and a girl. Kinda cool and a little creepy at the same time, I think I may have even been pregnant at the time I got the tattoo, which maybe my subconscious was telling me when I altered my original idea for my tattoo and had the faces both depicted as young. Or I could just be reading way to much in to coincidence. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s the only one I have…for now.

Now scorpio made me think of this tattoo. It says that the ink fluoresces under black light, but it doesn’t say whether you can see it in regular light. My skin is bad enough that I don’t see it working as a canvas. If there’s an ink that only shows under black light, I might consider it. At least theoretically.

I’ve hung things on my walls that I thought were absolutely cool and then years later couldn’t stand them any more. I’d be worried about the possibility of experiencing that with a tattoo instead of posters. Although you still like the design after five years, which is encouraging.

Interesting location. Did it hurt more than the other spots? Is it inside your hair?

Very pretty Rhi

I personally prefer full color tats like that, but I have seen some pretty sweet black and white or monotone ones, but they usually catch my eye because of the shading or detailing. I don’t really get tribal or text tattoos. Like lyrics to a song that may not apply to you when you are 50, but meant so much to you at 20. Or getting a tribal armband when you have no idea what tribe or culture that is from and it looks like you drew it on with a sharpie.

Now if you are The Rock, it looks good on ya

I can’t answer for MissTake, but I have a bat behind my ear and it hurt less than many of my tattoos. I was fully prepared for it to hurt like a bitch and it was surprisingly pleasant.

Ooh, fingernail moons, too. My favorite kind!
