Inserting pdf into Excel result in "Fuzzy" file

I have an Excel sheet I am trying to update and its causing me grief. The original file has a pdf inserted into one of the tabs and it looks clean and readable. When I try to insert an update of the same pdf it comes in looking fuzzy and when you zoom up on it it becomes unreadable. I’ve tried inserting it as a jpeg and a tiff but no luck, all are fuzzy. I’ve tried inserting it as a pdf “object” and still no luck. When I right click on the one that is readable I get no information telling that anything is different from the fuzzy one. WTF, this simple task is taking all day. Any Excel experts out there that can help a hunt and peck user out?

What steps are you using to insert the update?

Well I go into Excel into the Insert tab at the top and chose Insert>Object>pdf. It places the pdf into the sheet but when you compare them side by side the one in the Excel sheet appears fuzzy and you cannot read some of the smaller print. I do not see any settings under the Insert Object option to manipulate the resolution. What is frustrating is that the original pdf that I am replacing is as crisp and clean as the original pdf it came from. The original file came from a coworker in Japan who doesn’t speak English very well, so I cannot ask him how he was able to insert the file so cleanly.

I also have this same problem when I try to insert CAD drawing into the Excel sheets (as tiffs or jpegs), mine always appear fuzzy but my coworkers in Japan have figured out how to insert them cleanly. I am tired of being the dirty American!

Anybody?

Are you expanding the image at all? If you increase the size of the .pdf when you put it in your worksheet, it will be fuzzy compared to the original.

ETA: By size I mean dimensions, not file size.

Try opening the original in Acrobat and then highlighting the page you want to copy (by double clicking on it so itturns blue) and then select copy from the edit selection of the top menu (or use ctrl-C). Then go into Excel and just paste it. It will probably be huge, but you should be able to shrink it and retain the resolution.

Well between the two of you I was inspired to dig a little deeper. It seemed that when I converted it to a jpeg the default resolution was medium. I hadn’t noticed the setting buttons over on the side that let me increase the resolution and quality. I was then able to cut and paste into the file; and yes, the file is large but looks good.

Export them as PDFs and then insert them that way. Don’t convert to another format. Us the method Darth Panda recommended.

Adobe Acrobat 8 will not let me double click and copy and the copy in the menu is grayed out. :frowning:

Try Ctrl+C, sometimes that works even when R mouse click functionality is disabled.

Works but still fuzzy.
