A three-part miniseries about Bill Gates. Whatever you may think about his products or his ego, what he and Melinda are doing with their wealth is admirable by any metric: eradicating polio and trying to reduce child death due to lack of sewage treatment. Not only that, he was able to convince Warren Buffet to kick in half of his fortune for the projects. Interesting guy.
As a longtime Mac guy, who in his younger, more reactionary times, utterly DESPISED “Gate$” (as I tended to write his name), and who still harbors a smouldering dislike for a man I never met, I wonder if I could get past my negative feelings about the man to watch the series, or would I still want to put my fist through the screen?
how much does it go into his rather “anticompetitive” years in microsoft? or does it deal more with his personal/family life?
Yes, I WAS one of those foaming-at-the-mouth rabid Mac fanatics back in the 80’s through early 2000’s, but i’d like to think I’ve somewhat mellowed in my aging…
should I really give it a chance, or will it just anger me?

The director does a segment on Gates being raked over the coals by Congress and being found guilty of owning a monopoly (which was eventually overturned), and Gates admits that yes, his goal was to dominate the markets. He comes across as much more mature and thoughtful now, admitting to his faults. He’s clearly always been a driven man with a mind that doesn’t work like most people’s. I think there are equal parts about both his business and his personal/family life. Give it a shot.
