I just watched it last night. Enjoyed the characters, music and the cat(s) alot! I usually like a move that has more of a conclusion to it…not sure how I would have felt had I not been able to rewind and watch the beginning again.
What do I know about talent but I think he was pretty darn talented… maybe he wasn’t what they were looking for at the time, I don’t know. Adam Driver is a crackup…now that’s some talent!!
I was a little confused because the play list was different in the two scenes, but I think that’s immaterial since Bob Dylan shows up at exactly the same in both scenes, and the audience also looks exactly the same.
Anyway, I just watched it last night and was underwhelmed. But I would have never guessed that was Justine Timberlake! He’s a pretty damn good actor. The characters are all mostly annoying and the movie just makes me glad I don’t live in NYC.
I haven’t seen this movie, but the OP pretty much describes my feelings about The Catcher in the Rye.
Bumped.
Just saw the movie last night on DVD and enjoyed it. Oscar Isaac does a great job of making a basically unsympathetic character someone we want to succeed, even as he weathers setback after setback. Great cast, fine musical performances (although “Please Mr. Kennedy” was more annoying than clever, I thought), some funny lines, and a well-done, palpably muddy early-Sixties cinematography. I liked the veiled references to Peter, Paul and Mary, and of course to Bob Dylan. Not my favorite Coen Bros. film (The Big Lebowski still holds that title), not by a long shot, but well worth seeing.
