Insta Hot Question

Is there an 'Insta Hot" product on the market today that provides piping hot water instantly but doesn’t have a small tank that is reheated over and over during the day and night?

If there is one I would be interested in replacing the one we have since it is so loud when it is reheating the tank. We built the house ourselves and it has always done this. It’s 3 years old and otherwise works perfectly, but we only use it 5-8 times a week, and the noise it makes is quite annoying.

We have a ‘small’ tankless water heater for our garage sink, but that doesn’t produce as hot of water as the ‘Insta Hot’ and would be too large to fit under the sink.

nm, misread op

That’ll teach ya! :stuck_out_tongue:

What is the brand and model of the heater you have now?

I’ve never heard of a tankless one, and I’m not sure if it’s possible to make that work-- either the flow would be a tiny trickle, or the water would be at most luke-warm coming out. Think of the amount of energy required to heat a gallon of water a minute to boiling.

My parents have one with a tank small enough to fit under a countertop and leave a lot of room in the cupboard below, and well insulated enough that it can keep the tank hot for ages without having to re-heat it, and the water coming out will fill a mug in a reasonable amount of time.

Buying a newer model with a tank (but a smaller tank than the one you own) is probably the way to go.

Insinkerator model F-GN1100RB with tank SST-FLTR

This isn’t the first one of these we’ve had, but with the kitchen being part of the great room we hear things now that we never heard before. I was hoping someone had a model they could recommend that was quiet, or better tankless…

Tankless or Demand-Type Water Heaters from Energy.Gov

A google search of ‘on demand water heaters’ gives more results. Some of them may answer your questions.

I’m aware of how tankless water heaters work, I actually have one in my garage. But they aren’t the same as a hot tap which provides instant almost boiling water.

I had one installed about two weeks ago. It has a small tank like you mention.
I can honestly say I’ve never noticed it making any noise. I’ll try to pay attention this weekend.
