I really appreciate all the contributions to this post. My IP arrived yesterday and I have run a test boil in it which seemed fine. I’m not really up to cooking much ATM as I have a bad cold, so a proper trial will have to wait.
I thought I would start off with something simple like a vegetable soup, or maybe add some chicken. We do our shopping order this evening so I need to look up some recipes.
Well, you all have convinced me to get one. Actually, I did get one yesterday: my dad still had the one my mom used before she passed away. He never used it so agreed to let me have it on a permanent loan. We met for dinner and he brought it along. When I got home I brought it in the house, set it on the kitchen counter, and that’s all I have done so far. I haven’t even taken a good look at it so couldn’t tell you how big it is or what features it has, although I know it’s at least 5 years old. However, I know the OG instruction book and a wire rack of some sort is inside of it so I’ll play around with it this weekend.
I have a Instant Pot duo, in a limited edition candy apple red (there have been lots of designs- I got my brother a mini styled like BB-8 from Williams-Sonoma).
It makes perfect hard boiled eggs and meatballs. I’ve found that it makes a good beef or pork roast…if the recipe you follow isn’t stingy with liquid. I’ve made brownies from a mix a couple of times and they’re indescribably weird, but not bad. Pasta can be hit or miss, especially if you leave it on warming.
Due to lack of counter space for yet another appliance, I bought an airfryer lid. So far I’ve mostly used it to make chicken teriyaki, brown sugar glazed boneless pork ribs, and marinated pork loin using an apple and tomato based marinade, and those all come out great.
