Intelligence

Ugh. I’m giving up on trying to hold a legitimate conversation with anyone. Everyone around me seems to be getting dumber by the minute or I’ve surpassed everybody’s level of intelligence. I can’t speak one word to anyone without their reply having absolutely no relevance to what was just said. People are requiring sentences to be repeated multiple times. Nobody knows how to spell. Blah blah.

I can rant all day about this but I’m highly annoyed already, so I’ll save it for later. Honestly though, I’m about to give up on verbal communication. Its quite frustrating when you are trying to hold a conversation with someone that can’t comprehend even the simplest sentence.

Do you notice anyone’s intelligence fading? Am I the only one to see it?

Wat r talking about dude? Ppl everywhere have iPhones now. Those r like brains.

Well, I have noticed that you seem to have trouble READING things posted on this board.

For example, the forum to which you posted the above rant is Great Debates and you failed to provide a thesis or a topic to actually debate.
On the other hand, a different forum, The BBQ Pit, is established explicitly to provide a place for ranting. Since your OP is a rant, I will move this thread for you.

Greatness of my intelligence is a debate.

You’re saying your intelligence is a debate?

I am too intelligent to be true.

I think it depends on your age group. I’m 31, so most of the people I talk to are rather intelligent and I enjoy our conversations. I do know a few late teen/early 20’s folks who are somewhat dull (though not all of them are).

Or maybe you’re a genius and there is no one around to your calibre.

I am 12 and half.

So you’re only false.

J.M. Barrie, in “The Admirable Crichton,” has a young man say, several times, “Well, I’m too old to know everything.” The other characters correct him, and say, “You mean, you’re too young to know everything.”

But he knew what he meant, and he was right. He was old enough to have learned doubt. He was old enough to realize that, just perhaps, other people were right, and, even more astonishing, that he, himself, might be wrong about things. He had outgrown the childish certainly of very young childhood, and entered into the realm of wisdom.

Some people accomplish this at the age of eight. Some people at thirteen.

Some never accomplish it in their entire lifetimes, though they grow to be a hundred.

Assuming you’re not twelve point five, how old are you?

If you’re a guy approaching middle age, you’re getting more crochety. And therefore, less patient with The Usual Gang Of Idiots. Which is all of us.

Nope, I am 12 and half. BTW you do not know spelling. “crotchety” is the true spelling.

Is this about the apple tree thread?
