This morning when I retrieved yesterdays mail a couple of letters fell out from some of the junk mail that I generally toss in the recycling. Had they not fallen in my lap I would have tossed them into the recycling. This got me to thinking, “had they been placed there unintentionally or intentionally?” Had it been unintentional well I can understand, just a mistake and we all make mistakes, yes? Then I thought, "perhaps it was intentional, but why? Could the letter carrier be getting some kind of compensation from junk mail purveyors to make sure their mail is not being just tossed away? One of the letters was rather important. If you may be wondering if thats just the way things happen there were several other letters that were in my mailbox separate from the junk mail.
It’s not a plot by advertisers, no. Just an error in mail sorting or a fumble when putting mail in the box that led to this. I’m assuming by “inside junk mail” that you mean those coupon flyers that contain ads and such, sometimes with names like RedPlum on the front of the bundle.
Occasionally that happens with me too - I don’t think it’s intentional. It just got accidentally stuffed in the flyers when the postman was putting it in my mailbox.
If it were intentional, I think it would happen more often.
Mail carriers are being forced to work for the first time in some cases. They resent not being able to stop for coffee or more without falling behind. I have received other’s mail quite regularly. It’s not personal and it’s not a conspiracy. It’s pure neglect on the carrier’s part in my book.
Now you expect the mail to be sorted for you in an order you have in your mind? It’s random with a little reordering to make it fit.
Thinking the mail is delivered so certain senders that paid the mailman off is one of the most bizarre concepts I’ve heard in a long time.
Perhaps I should change my signature to " Purveyor of Bizarre Concepts."
The credit card companies pay an extra fee to the postal service to have your bills inserted into the paper spam/glurge that you get.
That way, you throw the bills away and get charged an extra late fee for not paying on time. Happens all the time.
If not for the junk mail, we probably wouldn’t have postal service anymore.
