My thoughts on the article and why this is happening is because it would shorten the length to get Covid-19 vaccine for immdient production and delivery for world wide vaccinations.

The longer it takes the more grants from governments and private doner donations.

I don’t see how any of the things quoted in the OP are at all controversial, unless the “pathogen” is something other than Sars-Cov-2.

Consider it this way - the company and/or researcher who finds a vaccine will be world famous and get the thanks of the world. The moron who wrote the article you linked to says that they would give this up for another grant.
Grants on anything related to Covid 19 are very easy to get these days - my daughter is a professor, and she is going after them.
Besides AIDS, this also like the anti-vaxxers who claim that the only reason scientists want to protect people from measles is to get more grant money.
