Chuck Hagel has been a critic of the Bush administration on the Iraq War and it’s ridiculous civil liberties infringements. He’s sort of libertarian I guess.
Really, it’s quite a shame he couldn’t have run for President. Maybe he’s trying to angle for such a position after Obama wins? I’m not saying this is a foregone conclusion, but maybe he feels that the Republicans are doomed to lose and it would be his position to take the party in a new direction.
But Hagel is a stand-up guy, he’s ought to be bigger in Republican Politics. No surprise that he doesn’t like McCain, because McCain has positioned himself to be Bush III…
