Aereo was providing online cloud based DVR for local TV channels available by normal antenna.
I heard they got sued by the big cable companies but haven’t heard much since then. Is there an available update ?
The results of that case most likely won’t be announced for a few months but there’s no set schedule. I read somewhere the average time between oral arguments and the decision is around 3 months.
The case is American Broadcasting Companies, Inc. v. Aereo, Inc.
It has been argued before the Supreme Court and we are awaiting the ruling which should come in the next week or two.
Oral arguments were in April. The opinion hasn’t been released yet and usually take 3-4 months after argument. But the current terms ends June 30 so it’ll be sometime this month (probably near the last moment).
Typically a ruling will be made in the same term as the case was heard - which run from October to late June-ish, so likelihood is some time this month or the beginning of July.
