So I got the 8830 World Edition and it supposedly has all these great features. I’m currently using it for phone and text messaging and I suppose pretty much everything except the internet service (which I think includes Messenger, Internet and email). I’d love to have the internet access for this thing so I can check my gmail and browse the Dope, etc. but an extra $40.00 a month (Sprint)?
Does anyone here have this setup? Can you tell me a little about the features and why you think it’s worth it?
Out of curiosity, why did you get a blackberry if you didn’t want the mail/internet features? I thought those were the main selling points of it. I think data plans for the Blackberry tend to be more expensive than data plans ($40 vs $20) on other phones. Is there a chance you can return it and buy a different smart phone with a different data plan?
The decision was based on functionality. It has a track ball navigation and the keyboard. I looked at other phones and none of them had what I liked with the trackball navigation and the other features I wanted.
What I need to know is what experience people have with it. I mean I know if I have the internet I should be able to check Gmail and other things, so I might not need the email features, but I think there may be benefits to having this that I am not aware of. I mean i HOPE there is for 40.00 a month!
I just got one for work, last week. I’m very impressed so far, even though the OS is taking a bit of getting used to. I downloaded and installed Opera Mobile, and it surfs very well indeed. The onboard browser isn’t great. I get GPRS data when roaming, which is quite slow, but when I’m at home or in the office it automatically hooks itself into the wireless networks, which is free and much faster.
