There were a couple of Japanese internment camps here during WWII. I want to drive down and see one. There is at least a cemetary left. Wouldn’t that just be the damn loneliest thing in the world? The living would return to CA, and the dead would remain in a never visited cemetary.
They are very depressing places. For those of you who don’t have one nearby to impress you children with what people will do to each other, you can look at http://www.geocities.com/Athens/8420/camps.html
The camps are not just in CA, BTW.
Dag nab it, I mentioned that everyone would return to CA leaving the dead folks here, which is not CA.
Gol durn inatentive posters.
Where are you, carnivorousplant? What camp is it?
I live in the Bay Area, if you’ve never been to Angel Island, the trip is worth it.
There were camps in Rowher and Jerome, Arkansas. I don’t know of anything left except the mentioned cemetary in Rowher.
