Because I am the most imcompetant doper to use the SDMB searcher, I cannot find my aging *Invention du Jour * which was quite interesting chock full o’ great mental inventions.
Thus said. I’m starting a new thread because a) there are new dopers here who are pretty smart b) (ahem) I’ve got a *revolutionary * new invention.
**Peanut Butter Packets **. Like the Philly cream cheese packets, but filled with creamy or chunky peanut butter.
This invention would lighten up picnic baskets/coolers from hauling the entire heavy skippy jar around for camping/whatnot.
**And ** if the bread gets smashed in the basket/cooler, as it always does, you can eat the peanut butter straight from the packet and save cleaning a spoon.
Jelly packets and half jelly/half peanut butter packets would also follow.
( I am going camping this weekend and really need this invention ASAP. Is that a problem?)
Chunky might be a bad idea depending on the strength of the packet… if it got mashed in just the wrong way a peanut chunk could poke a hole in the plastic and then you’d have peanut butter everywhere.
And now for my variation on your idea: Tomato paste in 1-ounce packets. Those little cans are always more than you need, unless you’re making spaghetti sauce in the wintertime. I’ve seen it packaged in tubes like toothpaste, and that’s a vast improvement, but premeasured packets would be even better.
The knoork (pronounced with a hard K)- a spork with a lightly serrated edge, the Swiss army knife of fine dining. Will take suggestions on the name.
Serious string - much like silly string but with the great works of literature written on them.
The Skinky - a genetically redesigned lizard in the shape of a spring. Try and straighten it out and you’ll get the aspca called on you.

Hard alcohol in those little catsup/mustard packets for people that can’t afford shot glasses? You could sell them in variety packs. A little bit of seven in your seven-up. A little jack in your coke? A bit of peppermint shnaups (sp?) in your hot cocoa?
You could take them to the game! Concerts! Camping! Kids could take them to school! (joke)
