Inversion table therapy for sciatica?

I am considering getting an inversion table to help relieve my sciatica.

I have a herniated L5S1 disk crushing my sciatic nerve root and causing leg pain. This has been confirmed with MRI. I’ve had 3 epidural stearoid injections, months of physical therapy, and lots of anti-inflamatories and narcotics - but so far no surgery. I don’t have back pain.

I saw a surgeon once and he recommended an inversion table. I also have tried it at the last therapy session and hope to do more with it. I think it was helpful but not sure yet as I seem to take a while to respond much or clearly to things.

What are the doper’s experiences and recommendations?
