I’ve managed to save up $1000 and I’m thinking that right now is a good time to invest.
I do already have a small investment in Jantzi funds but they really aren’t doing anything. I am going to ride it out with them for now or go down with the ship.
I have an appointment next week with my Accounts Manager but I’d like to go in with some ideas.
What are some things I should be considering investing in?
The Vanguard Long-Term Bond Index
Frankly nobody knows what’s going to happen to stocks in the next years. They could go up, they could stay flat, or they could drop a whole lot more. Bonds, on the other hand, are reasonably safe. As long as the global economy is in turmoil, the investors will seek the safety of long-term government treasuries, so the prices will stay up. The annual return from dividends is about six percent a year. The fund I’ve linked to invests in a wide array of long-term bonds, which gives you added safety and stability.
Haven’t we done this kind of thread like, thousands of times before?
Obviously I’ve not read them.
I did a search and there are, indeed, a number of investment threads! Lots for me to read.
