I have googled around, but haven’t been able to resolve this problem, and I am hoping that somebody here knows more that Verizon tech support.
I have an iPhone 4S. Since it’s arrival, I have not been able to send or receive photos by text from any non-iPhone user. Also, if anybody sends a text to a group, I don’t get it and they don’t get any notification that it didn’t go through. The second one occurs whether or not the originator is on an iPhone.
I have done the Settings–>General–>Reset–>Reset All Settings and Settings–>General–>Reset–>Reset Network Settings
Any ideas? My phone is a company-issued phone, but others on the same plan can do these things, so it shouldn’t be anything with the billing set up.
Make a appointment at the apple genius bar, explain the issue, and act as if they are gods, they seem to really like that and may actually give you a new phone if they like you enough.
A friend of mine had this problem with her new iPhone. Go to => **Settings **then the green, fourth one down => Cellular. Make sure the top option, Cellular Data, is set to ***on ***(switch is green). Its probably off which means you’ll only get pics from other iPhones via iMessage.
When it comes to smartphones there are always three possibilities when something goes wrong/isn’t working.
the network - your carrier. in this case you said it is a company phone and therefore should be on the same plan as everyone else. But I have seen cases where for some reason a phone is either on its own account or on the same account but for some reason not on the plan. (for mms and group messaging one needs both a texting plan and a cellular data plan)
2)The Software - as others stated make sure the settings in settings>messages are correct, w/MMS and group messages on. Settings>Cellular data turned to on. In addition at least the first time, try turning wi-fi off and making sure that cellular data is actually working (browse the internet on 3g/4g)
3)The hardware - Apple’s steps for determining if it is a hardware or a software problem is: 1) Turn off the phone 2)reset the phone 3)backup and restore (this returns the phone back to factory settings, which is why the backup is important)
Thanks for the info, everybody. It gave me enough to go on that I solved the mystery. At some point, the powers that be turned off company functionality for MMS on the phone, but it seems that some people were grandfathered in. So it looks like I am stuck.
Does it seem strange that we have unlimited data, but MMS got turned off as a cost saving measure?
