I have a fifth-gen iPod with software version 1.3 - I have used a non-apple component cable many times in the past to send the video signal to a television. I tried it last night (the first time since upgrading to 1.3) and I couldn’t get it to work. I tried everything on 3 different TVs… no luck.
A little web research indicated that Apple has prevented this type of connection on new versions of the iPod classic, but I couldn’t find anything that said older version like mine would also be shut down.
Maybe something else is wrong (like the cable itself) but I was wondering can any dopers with older versions of the classic still send video to a TV through a non-Apple component cable?
