Shit, that’s what I came to say. How much of an empty gesture is it from (whatever it is) an Iranian oil company and/or their government to help with an area of drilling expertise that they…wait for it…have little or no expertise in?
Ok so the following are from some NIDC ops
the first 3 are from an offshore jack up - the tubes you see twisted around are 6 3/4 in diameter, have a 2 1/4 in wall thickness and are made out of 120ksi steel.
The later ones are from a land rig - again similar tubes - those ones sticking out the ground are about 4,000lbs each. You can see the swivel and some 5inch pipe snaking off into the distance as well.
All achieved whilst attempting to control some well pressure situations.Obviously not the same level of disaster as the DWH , but I doubt NIDC has anything to offer.
