Iran's Ahmadinejad: "Holocaust a myth!"

Yes, the new political majordomo of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has now actually trotted out the hoary old claim that the Holocaust didn’t happen.

I’d call for my country, Canada, to chill relations with Iran. But after the Kazemi affair, the two countries don’t have anything in the way of friendly relations anyway. How do you reason with the crazy man ranting on the streetcorner?

He’s talking to the home crowd. Crazy to the rest of us, yes, but a sure fire way to keep the old fires of bigotry burning.

I was given to understand that he is sucking up to Hamas.

Jesus fuck! What is up with the world? Does he want a war with Israel? And with the US sitting in the goddamned middle of the two in Iraq, we’re sure to get dragged in. Not that the neo-cons aren’t itching to get on with some serious bomb-killin’ in Iran, anyway. Ugh. Holocaust deniers make me fucking sick. Religious extremists make me sick. Politicians who stoke hatred to boost their own political stock make me sick. Looks like Mr. Ahmadinejad has hit the trifecta.

And yes, I did cut and paste his name from RickJay’s post.

Mr. Ahmadinejad reminds me of a piece of all-pork hot dog I once scraped off the bottom of my shoe. Although the hot-dog remnant would stand a better chance of waging a reasonable argument.

This post’s use of that name was cut-'n-pasted from vibrotronica’s post.

If there was only some way we could convince Fred Phelps that Ahmadinejad was gay …

You can’t, which is the crux of the whole problem.

When it’s the crazy man ranting on the streetcorner with a gun, the cops subdue him one way or the other. When it’s the crazy man ranting on the streetcorner with nuclear warheads, it’s a tad dicier.
Truthfully, this is not the worst thing he’s said this month. I’m far more concerned by his announcement that Israel ought to be wiped off the map.

I’m just throwing out some wild conspiracy speculation here, but maybe this is the point. If Iran and Israel start a war and we get dragged in, it’ll only make our already thin military get stretched even thinner. Worse yet, if we get stuck rehabilitating Iran, it’ll just be Iraq all over again, except Iraq would still be going on, compounding the problem. Even though we’d get more foreign support for Iran in this case, I think it would just be too much for us.

Of course, this theory is dependant on Mr. Iran guy being willing to give up control of his country in order to strike a blow at America, which seems doubtful

Many commentators seem to think he doesn’t. Actually, several apparently think he still acts like he wasn’t president and doesn’t seem to have a clue about what the word “diplomacy” means. So, he goes on spourting his personnal convictions in front of crowd. He seems to like being confrontational re. foreign countries too.

His general behavior, in particular in foreign affairs (and not specifically the recent comments about Israel) is bothering the Iranian political establishment, including the most religious (but maybe more political-savy). The guide of the revolution apparently intends to keep him in check and for this reason, has ironically expanded the powers of the former moderate president he used to oppose.

Who are you talking about?

To steal from Lewis Black: You can’t reason with them, so you have to outcrazy them. What we need to do is elect Ronald Reagan President. Have him sworn in by Rhenquist and nobody will fuck with us!

Since Qaddafy is getting on in years, the Middle East needs a new wacko leader.

“As a consequence of Germany’s militantism, European powers redrew boundaries in the middle east, ceding territory to a non-arab peoples who had historical ties to the land, creating a new state. Name the people and the country.”

A) Jews/Israel
B) Persians(Aryans)/Iran

At the last Axis of Evil summit meeting, Kim Jong Il and Saddam Hussein pointed out to Iran that they hadn’t been contributing their share of psychopathic leadership to the alliance. So as part of his election platform, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed to restore insanity to the Iranian government.

Its probably much ado about nothing in the end. Ahmadinejad (yeah, I had to cut and paste it too) is really playing to his base…though I don’t doubt he really believes this tripe. I’m unsure how much REAL political power he wields as well…my understanding is that ‘president’ in Iran doesn’t mean the same thing as ‘president’ down here in the US.

Don’t get me wrong…I still think the guy is slime and rightly deserves a pitting. In fact, I think he’s getting off a lot easier than he deserves in here because folks are focused on other things than the slimy doggedness of his statement and views. He’s also getting a break (IMHO) because of his ethnic background and because he’s ‘playing to his base’…though its interesting that HE gets cut slack by those who hammer various US politicians for the same sin.

Isn’t that the difference?
US politicians wield REAL political power.

Okay, folks, call off the hounds.

Apparently, we’ve misunderstood his remarks.

Great, now Iran has a Pat Robertson.

You can call the doggies right back again, I guess.
They shot Ahmadinejad’s bodyguard.
