What is poitín? (Or is it “poteen”?) Is it illegal? If so, why?
Its moonshine…if you don’t know what you’re doing, its toxic.
Poteen is an Irish clear distilled spirit. It is traditionally produced in small batches from potatoes. Illegal for many years in Ireland, it has recently been reintroduced to the market in proofs from 80 to 180 (yow!).
So it’s white lighting made from potatoes, eh?
Thanks.
Poitín is a very very bad thing indeed. Stay away from it.
I say this as someone who found himself dancing shirtless in a nightclub with a builder from Crumlin after two (small) glasses of it. This was as my girlfriend of the time looked on, BTW.
