Half of my (large) family smoke, my boyfriend and many of my friends smoke and I also smoke. Only one of these is against the ban. I have no problem with it at all and agree with a lot of what ruadh has said.
In fact, far from just putting up with it stoically, I actually think it’s a really great idea. Seriously, how much hassle is it to go for your cigarette outside? We all benefit from it. I love the idea that I can go out and not come back totally stinking of smoke. I can only imagine what a relief it must be for non-smokers who are in the majority after all. It also makes me smoke less on a night out - also good. Yes there are down sides but they’re just slight inconveniences and the overall benefits for all of us outweigh them.
In fact the main down-side is the moaning and groaning of fellow smokers every time you go out for a smoke. BOOOORRRIIIINNGGG. The law’s changed, move with the times, stop being so selfish and change the bloody record…
That said, God help the anti-smoker who gives out about being able to smell my smoke outdoors…
