Hi,
I think I’ve found one of the greatest Irish trad bands in the UK, but hardly anyone’s yet heard of them. These lads (aka “Murphy’s Mob”) happen to often play at my local pub, and I’ve become something of a fanatic about their music.

They recently got a web-page up, which has some free MP3 recordings of them playing some traditional sets live :

In particular, the tenor banjo player Mark Conyard has a truly extraordinary talent, and was All Ireland champion in 1988. If you like Cathal Hayden, Mick Maloney, Gerry O’Connor, etc, I strongly urge you to give him a listen.

I’d be extremely interested to hear what fellow trad-loving Dopers think of these guys!

Glad you liked them! Please do forward the link to anyone else who you know likes this kind of music. I think these boys deserve to be huge and am doing what I can to get the word out.

A CD of live recordings will be ready by the end of February, full details will be posted on the website.
