Is 1000 feet really that far? [Land of the Lost TV show, no movie comments please!]

:smack: I just got that right now.

Really, what’s with all the hate for her?! She was a whole generation of prepubescent boys’ first crush!!

Me too (only 40 years later!)

There’s an internet forum devoted to the show (or was, looks like it’s no longer current). Interestingly, in the early 2000s the guy who ran it was responsible for getting the series a DVD release! He contacted cast members & writers and lobbied the studio to get the ball rolling. He desperately tried to get the original dad, Spencer Milligan, to participate. After months and months of soft ‘maybes’ they simply had to wait and see if he’d show up when they were set to start shooting the DVD bonus material. Sadly he ultimately declined.

Because of David Gerrold’s influence (he got his scifi writer friends Larry Niven, D.C. Fontana et al to work on it) the first season was quite good. The second less so, and the third was not so great. Gerrold & company had left, and instead of interesting stories they brought in a lot of gimmicky stuff (fire-breathing dino etc.)

And I hate to admit it, but I actually liked the zany parody/tribute 2009 Will Ferrel film*!*

Did they ever get home?

Well, I was a 14 year old girl so I leaned more toward Will.

So did I, except that I was 13 and a boy. And it turns out Wesley Eure Is gay or maybe bi!

And seems to have aged pretty well.

CarnivorousPlant - I know there was an early 1990s remake of the series in which another father, brother, sister trio get trapped in the Land of the Lost. They meet a feral human girl whom they eventually deduce that the girl was trapped in the valley alongside her family years earlier but that she was the only one that survived. By the time she met the new family, she only had vague memories of her human life. I don’t think the actress that played Holly portrayed the girl, but it was heavily implied that this was Holly. So, alas, the answer to your question is no.

Christa was played by Shannon Day, Holly was played by Kathy Coleman.

I had no idea that Christa was supposed to be Holly. Although she was trapped there with her family, and her family didn’t survive. Hmm.

The first season family did and replaced themselves with themselves from either earlier in the timeline or an alternate reality version…then later, because the father dropped out of the show, he accidentally made it home and was replaced with his brother who had been searching for the family.

Oh, wow…and he apparently is an ex-lover of Richard Chamberlain! Goodness…the things a little gay boy didn’t know…
