I am as happy to get Kerry into the presidency as I am to get Dubya out.
Frankly, I’d vote for anybody (except Hillary Clinton) if it meant getting Bush out of office. Worst national disaster ever – and we won’t see just how bad it’s been until years after he’s gone.
Not only will I vote for them, I’ll support them financially, go door-to-door, and put up a big-ass campaign sign. Over 10,000 people pass my house every day, and I’m willing to stand naked in the yard screaming my head off, if that would help (probably wouldn’t help, would it?).
Kerry? If he’s got the best chance of beating Bush, then I’m his bitch.
The OP presents a false assumption. There are usually a dozen or so names on the ballot whereever I’ve voted. I could vote against Bush by choosing any name other than his.
So when I vote for Kerry in November, I will be doing both.
On the AOL position poll, I matched up with Kerry 74% and Bush 8%, which was not surprising, but I matched Kacinich at 78% and Al Sharpton  at 76%.
I know several people, especially former Dean supporters, who have real concerns about Kerry’s plans in Iraq.
Don’t much like him.
However, they will vote for him because they want “anyone but Bush”.
AM radio has nothing to do with it.
But then, what do I know, I’m rather conservative politically.

Those who don’t particularly like Kerry but are still voting for him over Bush, here’s a web site for you:
http://www.johnkerryisadouchebagbutimvotingforhimanyway.com/
I don’t particulalry agree with the site, but that has to be the funniest URL I’ve ever seen.
Holy poll results, Batman!
The AOL poll tells me I’m supposed to be for Kerry. 66% Kerry, 37% Bush, who finished 4th behind even Sharpton!
My positions on abortion, gay rights and religious freedom all favored the other candidates heavily.
I’m still not conceeding this yet. Bush’s capital gains tax reforms saved me nearly $5,000 in 2003.
We’ll just have to see…
I can confirm that a zero is possible.
76% agreement with Kerry, zilch for Bush. Not like I needed to be told that, although I have to say that reality would probably show something between zero and five percent agreement between me and el presidente.
So yes, kanicbird, I am voting for Kerry because in general I think his policies are heading in the right direction, i.e. not straight to hell. That being said, you couldn’t pay me enough to vote for Bush. Ever.
I’ll third that since someone’s already seconded it. I usually vote for the Libertarian candidate for president, but if Pennsylvania’s close, I may well vote for Kerry. Under Bush, my income dropped by a 6th, and that was after spending 7 months looking for work. At the same time, my expenses, including public transportation and gas prices, and health care have gone up. Any tax cut I saw was swallowed up long ago by my drop in income. We have captured the man who didn’t mastermind the attacks on September 11th in the country which, if I recall, 1 of the bombers came from, and money which could be spent on America’s infrastructure is instead being spent on attacking Iraq. The young men and women serving in Amerca’s military are getting paid little; the men who run the corporations which supply substandard food and supplies to them are getting paid a great deal. People who disagree with the government are being called “un-American” which I find highly ironic considering this country was founded by people who disagreed with the government. I’m afraid I can see George W. Bush doing to America what he did to a few other business ventures he was involved with.

I was in the ABBB camp until the Kerry refused to aoplogize for the “crooked, liars” remark. When he stood his gound, he gained a lot of respect in my eyes. As far as the poll 74% Kerry, 14% Bush. I must have missed the questions like "do you breath; drink water, etc which garnered the 14%.
Just kidding, there were some questions that just didn’t matter much to me one way or the other.
Thank you all so far for keeping this on topic.
FWIM I live/vote in NY so my vote is also voided.
this one I have a great deal of trouble understanding
I know about his remark, strongly assume who it was ment for, and know who J.F.Kerry said it was ment for after the fact. I just don’t understand how this could be a positive.
Firstly like you, I suspect the remark was more pointed than he said he it was later. However, for me it was a nice change of pace to see a politician say “yeah, I said it and I meant every word”. You don’t have to agree with the sentiment, to admire someone for voicing an opinion and refusing to take it back. The fact that I agreed was just a happy bonus.
OK I understand more, though I don’t persaonally see it as anything but a weakness.
As long as we’re delving into this, why?
I thought about voting “against Bush” simply because although I lean slightly to the right, I didn’t feel he was implementing the policies well. After some thought, I feel it’s still better to have an innefective person I agree with in office rather than a president effectively running this country in a different direction than I feel it should. I’ll still leave my options open, but considering Kerry didn’t fare much better than Al Sharpton in that AOL test, Bush is almost certainly getting my vote.
I’m curious how Kerry fared in relation to Bush on the AOL quiz (seeing as how Al Sharpton is really a non-issue). Care to share?
65% Bush
37% Kerry
Interesting. According to it’s results, the candidates most in line with my beliefs are:
Kerry: 78%
Kucinich: 73%
Sharpton: 72%
Bush: 14%
I am planning on voting for Bush, despite the fact that he’s done a royal screwing of things.
I got a $2,000 refund for '03 on the same income on which I paid $800 in 02. I just don’t get it? If the liberal, far left, socialist don’t want their refund, donate it to a legitimate charity …
You don’t recall correctly. None of the 9/11 hijackers were Iraqi.
Is it that you feel the site is inaccurate, or what? Why would you vote for the candidate who both shares the least of your views, and you feel screwed the country? Is he your cousin or something?
