Is AudioGalaxy working for you guys?

For the past two days, AudioGalaxy has not been working for me. I go to the site, look up songs, and it doesn’t have any online at all. I can see them, it brings them up, but they are not there to download. All of the songs I have in my list to download, those aren’t working either. Does anyone know what is going on?

It’s dead. Kaput. Gone the way of Napster.

Myson found an article online this morning. They’ve come to an agreement with the RIAA. Have no idea where he found the article, but apparently it is GONE.

Damn. Thank goodness I saved all the songs I downloaded on my winamp.

I thought I was just picking the wrong songs or something. Never dreamed they’d be kaput.

RIP, AudioGalaxy.

I ended up uninstalling Audiogalaxy a couple of months ago for the same exact reasons…

But at least I saved everything!

Holy crap, that is unreal. It was just working the day before yesterday! Call me crazy, but I really thought that AG would have been around for quite sometime! Damn, I’ve loved AG more than any of the others. It’s been faster for me, I’ve never had a song that I couldn’t find on there (and I’ve found MANY that I didn’t know existed by certain artists), and it was just my overall favorite. Oh well…

…I guess it’s to KaZaA for me full time now!

RIP AudioGalaxy, you were the best!!!

There’s a version of Kazaa called Kazaa Lite, without all the spyware. It seems to work OK. Can’t remember where I found it, but maybe http://www.downloads.com

What is the best replacement for AG?

Kazaa was mentioned here. What’s up with the attached spyware?

Haj

Yeah, just what in the hell IS spyware anyhow?

Spyware takes your info & gets you lots of spam, I’m sure someone can explain it better. If you get spam that addresses you personally, you’ve been spied. Some of this crap even watches where you go, I’ve heard, so it tracks what sites you go to. Supposedly, the latest KaZaA doesn’t have spyware.
I got a site from a geek friend, (someone that knows what they’re doing with a computer, unlike me), I haven’t tried it yet.
link removed - Coldfire
I tried KaZaA, apparantly, it’s better for video than music. Either that, or I like music no one else does??

The RIAA’s efforts are so futile. You only have to go to a - legitimate - site like http://www.downloads.com and see the masses of p2p-type file sharing programmes available now.

Guys, debate the virtues of the RIAA all you want, but don’t post any direct links to applications that can be used for copyright infringement. Thanks.

There’s a program called Further that allows for the trading of approved live shows- they mostly have live jam band stuff like Phish, Marley, Dead, DMB, etc… However, a lot of the shows are in SHN (Shorten) format.

Not to be antagonistic or anything, but do you realize how broad that edict is? I mean, strictly speaking, I couldn’t post a direct link to a scanner driver because it “can be used for copyright infringement”…

I remember a thread in the not-too-distant past which discussed some legitimate sources for downloading music, ones that are supported by the artists involved. I checked one of the sites out, it had a lot of more independant release, but I cannot for the life of me find it again. I also did a search for that original thread, and I can’t find it either. Can anybody help?

Gah! It’s the handy argument!

Let’s just suspend disbelief and pretend that Coldfire meant “any applications that are used almost exclusively for copyright infringement.” Everybody’s happy now (well, except for RIAA), right?

Beats the heck out of me, but IIRC (and if they’re still around), I believe that MP3.com was pretty much entirely underground/independent artists.

Not posting a link and not intending to raise anyones ire.

After napster I went to Kazaa but the spyware and the(at that time, may have changed) 128kbs compression limit left me looking for a replacement. After trying a few (includeing AG) I went with WinMX.

It was similar to that, but not nearly so “commercial” looking, and easier to navigate. Rats! I was all set to actually sign up, and now I can’t figure out what it was.
