When you read through the whole list, it gives you insight into the guy’s mind. The Boxer/Ali example was just one. There are patterns there.
Bush is definitely mental…but not for making up unflattering nicknames about people. Hell, where I grew up EVERYONE did this. That’s how I got the nickname ‘XT’ in fact…and that was one of the more flattering nicknames I was called in my youth.

Personally, I’ve known only one guy who almost compulsively made up nicknames for people. He didn’t care if the name he chose hurt someone’s feelings and he didn’t care if the name was funny; all he cared about was making up nicknames and using them even when no one other than he had the least idea as to who he was talking to or about. If it is relevant, he was a more or less functional alcoholic. He was also a complete asshole.
Well, I’d certainly vote for ‘Bush is a complete asshole’. AND mental. But mental for making up nicknames? :dubious: I think it just makes him an asshole…

The nickname, “Boy King”, shows maturity?
Yep, I’m from the north, and I would find this immediately grating, rude, condescending and unprofesional. I wouldn’t say it to somebody’s face if they did it to me, but I would be looking for like minded folks to plot a coup.
Before he was President, Bush was Governor of Texas. Or owner of a baseball team. Or the son of the President. My point is that even in the high circles he lived in, he was one step above the rest of the room. So it’s not a sign of mental imbalance for him to have an oversized ego.
For The President Of the United States, to call the only other man on the planet, that has the ability to end civilization as we know it, “Pootie-Poot” is profoundly disturbing to me. It shows a level of childishness and detachment that goes beyond ego. Robert E Lee would only refer to the Union troops as ‘Those people’ or ‘The Enemy’ as a sign of respect for their deadly potential. For Bush to reduce these people to the level of his playthings tells me that he is dangerously unstable. It’s no wonder that he’s drawn us into catastrophe after catastrophe; to him, it’s just been a childish game. With ten days left in his administration, I didn’t think I could detest him any further; guess I was wrong. I can’t wait to have an adult at the helm again.
I strongly disagree with you. One’s ego should reflect the reality of accomplishment, not just the labels one earns. And it should take into consideration shortcomings and mistakes…like war crimes.
I don’t know if Bush’s use of nicknames is his way of trying to fit it or a way of putting others down. But it certainly is noticeable.
Bush has done a terrible job but he was elected President for two terms. That is a real accomplishment not just a meaningless label.
Good god man, get ahold of yourself. I wish people could hate Bush for legitimate reasons like starting wars and opening secret prisons, and not ridiculous shit like this. It takes credibility away from us sane Bush-haters. This is only one step above the mouth-breathers who need to believe he blew up the WTC to justify their hate for him. Just pick up a newspaper from his first 6 years in office - there’re more than enough legitimate policy fuckups to keep you hating for years before getting around to his nickname for Vladimir Putin. If you were a psychologist I might cut you a little bit of a break here - no, fuck that - you’re talking out of your ass and having a degree wouldn’t change that. This doesn’t show you anything beyond exactly what you want to see.
I vote for malignant narcissistic sociopath. Just a layman’s opinion. The nickname thing is done by fraternities, which is probably where he got it. It’s extraordinarily rude. The guy is a flaming asshole.
Hi! Tomndebb!
Hi Opal!
Obsessive-compulsive hatred of Bush is definitely a sign of irrational thinking.
Gee Sissy-co, I wish I was intelligent and sane enough to qualify as a legitimate Bush-hater in your book. Thanks for fighting my ignorance outside the pit on that one.
Bush is not a southerner. Born in Connecticut. That does not give him a southern excuse.
While Pootie-Poot tickled me, primarily because a horse I know is nicknamed Pootie and you want to mess with him about as much as you want to mess with Putin; at least one of the nicknames is incorrect.
The link cited for Prince Bandar bin Sultan says that Bandar Bush is a nickname showing the closeness of Bush to the Saudi Royal Family, not Bush’s nickname for Prince Bandar.
“The current president is even said to have earned the nickname Bandar Bush, as an honorary member of the family.’”
This thread may be about nicknames, but you will refrain from using insulting nicknames to apply to other posters in Great Debates.

I’m not sure what you are on about. In this thread, you are actually addressing the topic of the OP with no effort to hijack the thread.
His childishness is not at the top of the pile. it just adds more fuel to the nuclear reactor of Bush disgust. There is so much to dislike . It just fits him so well.
He’s totally mental, I must say.
I think he’s a pretty decent guy, ya know. Just like Pat Sajak.
