Is Carhartt becoming cool?

Sketchers? I still have my 20-year-old Doc Martin 10-holes! My black DM shoes are finally wearing out, but the brown ones are going strong.

Those baby carhartts are cute as all get out. My son had a few pairs, which always led to the requisite photo with Dad and son in the matching set.

I didn’t know carhartt made jeans until a few years ago–I thought they looked great on the guy who was wearing them. My husband said he noticed getting more friendly nods from the construction workers about town when he was wearing his carharrt shirt or jacket, but that was a few years ago. If they’re “hip” now, I suppose the real tradesmen will have to come up with some other form of secret handshake.

Wow. I didn’t realize Carhartt made much besides that strange orangey-khaki colored canvas work clothing that all the rednecks in college wore.

This kind of thing, except in pants, longer coats, etc…

Surely this stuff isn’t what you all are talking about being cool?

The trend is upwards of 15 years old as others have mentioned, however it is a very minor, hipster trend, not a pop trend, good god. Half of you didn’t even know.

and the reason hipsters like it is because of the quaility, so you don’t have to worry about the quaility falling off (also because the the trend is so minor, Carhart would be fools to give up their real hard-earned customer base chasing the cyclic market of popular clothing)

people will ask the hipster about the jeans, and they will love to say how well-made they are, that is the whole she-bang right there

…you can be sure that the trend is almost over. Look for the “in” crowd to be moving on from Carhartt soon. Heck, no less an eminence than prsidential candidate John Kerry sported a brand new Carhartt jacket, as he went in to buy a Virginia hunting license.
Isn’t there a gang whose membes wear Carharrt?
Yeah, I think you are late on the trend, my friend…the people in the know are switching to…DICKEYS! :smack:

Switching to Dickeys? Dude, Dickeys has been popular for several years now.

I bought my first and only Carhartt jacket about 25 years ago. The store I bought it at was the only place that carried Carhartt in a city of over 100,000. Now it can be found in any of the ubiquitous Fred Meyer stores the litter the Puget Sound area. Plus a multitude of other retailers. That jacket served me well for many years. Someone stole it even though the right sleeve elbow had a big hole.

i wear carhartt stuff every day, but i have spent the last thirty or so years on construction sites. other clothing just does not hold up as well. i have moved into the more high tech end of my profession, but it has yet to effect my wardrobe
