Is Cheney insane?

Making me read it again is giving me a similar response.

The point is that you can’t go using that kind of language and not expect to get the reatsions they’ve been getting.

Reactions. Reactions. Reactions. Reactions. Reactions. Reactions. Reactions. Reactions. Reactions. Reactions. Reactions. Reactions. Reactions. Reactions.

There we go. Better now.

Christ, to say you’re invoking World War III holds some weight. These people must be stopped.

Well, the “WWIII” characterization is consistent with the “Clash of Civilizations” meme that’s been floating around this country for 10 years. I’ve bought into the “Islam is the enemy” idea myself at times. Other times I realize that it’s horrendously simplistic.

YESTERDAY? Fuck. I hope CNN and company can be bothered to report that choice of words. Meantime I guess I’ll go dig a bunker in the back yard. :smack:

It is bigger than we thought. We have seen our economy drastically altered in 5 years. We have created a factory state in China and India. They will work cheap to maximize profits. No,unions,no environmental problems.Corporations are setting up a sinister and different world. The world economy made inroads into Russia but are experiencing setbacks.Ther has been a push back toward old Russia. It is being dealt with.
You people that look for education ,like Bush said,to insure future success are in for a surprise.Engineers, programmers,IT pros have all seen their jobs dissappear .The better and more high paying a job is,the more likely it is to be exported.

Actually, I would argue the very opposite. Skilled, high-paying jobs, especially ones in the tech industry, require a workforce skilled in a range of abilites which are simply not taught in developing regions. There is a reason unskilled manufacture (sweatshops) and, increasingly, skilled manufacture are being exported- they don’t require the same sophisticated education system to learn as is present in most Western nations but not ones like China.

IIRC a lot of tech jobs are exported to India, or Indians are imported here.

It has already happened. The manufacturing industry has moved to first India then Japan.General Motors just built a plant in India. You read about 600,000 engineers graduating in India,They work for less than a third of what we make. The automobile industry will soon be offshore.Your xrays are being read in Asia.My question is after it is done, who will buy the cars.

Putin being in my opinion in need of some bashing, that would be a good thing, if the bashing was about what actually matters, namely Russian internal policies and Russian support for some not so nice neighboring autoritarian governments.

But since it’s as usual all about Russian influence in central Asia and the control of oil and gas reserves, it’s just more of the same.
And it probably won’t be taken lightly by the Kremlin, that seems to really not appreciate external influence in its sphere of influence, and plays on this issue a lot for intenal consumption too. Yet another evidence for the medias of the anti-Russian plot by western nations.

We in America are actually rather snowed when it comes to Communist or former Communist countries (lump Iran into this if you feel the need). They’re not as bad and as evil as ew’ve been led to believe, but it’s almost a knee jerk reaction to say “Evil! Bad! Wouldneverworkintheglobalmarketplace!” when we hear the word “Communism”. This is wrong, of course, however the status quo would need some tweaking if Communism were the dominant political philosophy.

I point to Cuba as an example of how we’re so used to see a country, through our media, in a certain light…a very unflattering light. Unfortunately, that filter is often inaccurate or just plain false.

Wait a minute. Is this the same Putin whom Bush said “As soon as I looked into his eyes, I knew this was a man I could trust.”?

Yup. And as soon as he said that, I knew Putin was untrustworthy. Given the famous Bush good judgement and all.

You may be right about it being one of the smartest things, but that is a very low standard. It doesn’t mean it’s particularly useful. Yes, Putin is a bum, but there is such a thing as quiet diplomacy. Making speeches just cements their position, since they can’t be seen to be bowing to pressure. Calling Iran and North Korea members of the Axis of Evil has not been particularly helpful in making the world a safer place.

The bunch of them are like Internet newbies, who flame all who disagree without considering the consequence. In a rational world, they would have been banned for being jerks a long time ago.

Though this be madness, there be method to it.

Cheney, not insane.

I agree, that makes it too hard on the Dems.

As soon as they learned how to sing together, “This Administration does nothing to promote democracy in Ru-u-u-us-s-s-ia!”, suddenly they need to start reciting, “This Administration is recklessly alienating the Ru-u-u-us-s-s-iansss!”

Ah but they sell goods so cheap that even flipping 'burgers, which is what will be left as jobs, will allow you to eke out an existence.

Not unless we can apply outsourcing price cuts to the cost of homes, utilities, and essentials. Being a poor homeless person with a bunch of cheap 'n shiny toys doesn’t sound like fun to me.

Putin has told us he’s not going to stop trading with Iran…meanwhile, oil goes through the roof everytime Iran releases some more bluster. Does is ever occur to Cheney just to keep his trap shut? Sometimes, it is wiser to say nothing Unfortuneately, we are stuck in a very bad situation. Yelling at Putin isn’t going to accomplish anything, except to raise the price of gasoline for Americans. :smack:
