I left some homemade macaroons on the kitchen counter and went into find my dog had eaten about 10 of them. The cookies were small- about 1.5" in diameter. Ingredients: sweetened coconut, almonds, egg whites, cream, vanilla. I didn’t add any extra sugar. The amount of coconut ingested was prolly about 1/2 cup.
Should I anticipate any adverse effects?

Not as far as I know; I have an aunt who grooms dogs and sells various treats in her shop that often include coconut – the oil is supposed to be good for their coats, I guess. Makes sense.

I remember that Snoopy didn’t like coconut.
I don’t recall the cartoon exactly and I can’t find it, but the one I’m thinking of goes something like this.
Frame 1: Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and a third character. Charlie says to character, “Chocolate creams”, feeding 1 to Snoopy.
Frame 2: Charlie Brown and Snoopy with wide, closed smiles. Balloonless balloon: “MMMMMMM”.
Frame 3: Charlie Brown and Snoopy mouth open, tongue protruding. Balloonless balloon: “ACH! PTOOEY!”
Frame 4: Snoopy mouth closed, tongue protruding. Charlie Brown says to character, “With a little bit of coconut”.
This was actually preceded by a cartoon which was 3 frames like frame 2 above, with increasingly wider smiles and size of “mmmmmmm”. The 4th frame was like frame 1 above.

Coconut can be fatal to a dog . . . if it falls directly onto his head, from a tall tree.
Many dogs love coconut. Not bad for them at all.

Especially after rain. The outside husking absorbs rain and the damn thing gets very heavy and falls off the tree.
If a dog ate my coconut macaroons, yes, he would not feel well at all.

Forget macaroons, which may contain flour, sugar etc, coconut by itself definitely beneficial.
Better plan to have some unladen swallows around to catch it.
