I haven’t noticed with Coke Zero but Pepsi Zero Sugar is definitely in short supply around here. I was forced to buy shudder regular Diet Pepsi
Intermittently in short supply, but mostly rebounding. It was a bit scarce April-early June, but has slowly but steadily been returning to a more normal stock situation. I found dedicated take-out places pre-pandemic like pizza parlors or taquerias usually were able to keep cans on hand, but supermarkets were stuck with bountiful supplies of just regular Coke and Diet Coke (which unlike Coke Zero I despise).
What I haven’t seen for the past three weeks is decaf Coke, which I don’t drink, but my husband does. (I’ve been getting him ginger ale.)
I’ve only noticed a shortage the last two or three weeks. Then today I went to Fred Meyer and they were fully stocked.
Coke Zero has been hard for me to find in my corner of Toronto. I buy some when I see it but I’ve had to settle for Diet Pepsi lately (closer to Coke Zero than Diet Coke is).
I’ve been having trouble finding diet decaffeinated colas (I know - my kids always say why bother). I’ve shifted to Diet 7up and Diet Shasta Ginger Ale.
Yep, Coke Zero is openly available here in South Carolina. No worries there.
I’m stunned. Both the Meijer(major store here) and our Walmart(which is a superstore) have been out of Coke Zero and Pepsi Zero Sugar for about 3-4 months.
It was the stocking guys for both companies who told me Coca-Cola and Pepsi have reduced shipping of the “zero” products. I’m not saying those guys are huge authorities, but they were relaying information in a way that sounded reliable.
I buy the six-packs of reclosable bottles to take to work. No supply issue with Coke Zero (which I prefer). I’m in Sacramento, CA
I bought a can of Coke Zero out of the vending machine at the Walmart Market yesterday. The transshipment code date on the bottom was Oct 20, 2020 so it was quite fresh. So it’s available here in the Milwaukee metro area.
FYI I only bought that flavor because the other machine was sold out of Diet Dew.
Coke Zero is always easy to find, pretty much at every store. Pepsi zero sugar is rarer, but it’s always been that way. I do like the Pepsi one better myself also.
There is a shortage here of the non-flagship brands and its due to a decline in CO2 stocks worldwide.
Most industrial CO2 is a byproduct of oil drilling/refining, and with the spring glut there was no ongoing production.
We are also seeing a shortage for pharma supply.
I had no idea that was the source of the carbon dioxide in sodas.
Really makes me think as I’m downing these bourbons & diets.
I mentioned earlier that the supply for pharma is also in jeopardy, and this is a real issue I haven’t really seen discussed by media anywhere. All Biologics and vaccines require CO2 in their processes and without it the supply could interrupted quickly.
No shortage of either Coke Zero or Pepsi Zero around here that I’ve seen. Nor have I seen a shortage of caffeine-free Coke Zero (my soft drink of choice). This thread is the first I’ve heard or seen of such a shortage.
That article was published in April and predicting the CO2 shortage would hit in May. I certainly don’t recall any shortage of seltzer (and I drink a lot of seltzer).
I think this was all just a plot by Big Fizz.
The St. Louis area is definitely seeing shortages of the different soda brands still.
I bought diet ginger ale the other day because there wasn’t any Diet Cherry Coke Zero or Diet Vanilla Coke Zero at the supermarket. On the bright side, I discovered how much I love diet ginger ale. A few weeks ago I did ask the Coca-Cola delivery guy if they had discontinued those diet Coke Zero brands but he said they hadn’t. There’s a shortage of aluminum and Coca-Cola is focusing on their core products for now. He suggested the next time I saw Diet Cherry Coke Zero I should buy enough to last.
I don’t know about coke zero, but I like caffeine free regular coke (the one with the gold label). Its getting very very hard to find. Occasionally some 2 liters will show up, but its rare. The canned stuff is almost impossible to find now (it was hard before all this, now near impossible).
I’ve also noticed caffeine free regular pepsi is hard to find too.
Same here. I still have my one can of caffeine free Coke that I’m saving for a special occasion, since I can’t find it anywhere.
No problems finding generic brands, though. Walmart’s soda is there, and their Diet Twist-Upis even easier to get than Sprite Zero for my diabetic mom.
