I have contact lenses prescribed to me, they are designed to last one month.
However I don’t wear them everyday.
DO I need to throw them out exactly on the end of the month? In other words, if it’s month-long use contact lenses, does that really mean ‘30 uses’ or ‘30 days’?
However, don’t you have an eye doctor? Wouldn’t you want to ask him for his professional opinion, based on the specific brand of lenses he prescribed for you, and what he knows about your individual situation?
Personally, given that these are your eyes we’re talking about, I’d err on the side of caution. If you wear the lenses for the majority of days in a month (say, more than twenty), replace them on the same day of every month. Just safer and easier (to remember to replace them on the same day of the month, rather than trying to count uses).
If you don’t wear them more than twenty days per month, switch to dailies. It’s probably more cost effective on a per-use basis, and it’s way more convenient.
I started wearing contacts about a year ago. I started with monthlies, then switched to dailies even though I wear mine pretty much all day every day. The convenience of being able to just pop the lens out at the end of the day and drop it in the trash, rather than dealing with the cleaning and storing, is well worth the slight increase in price.
It’s uses. I have the Cooper 30-day ones, and work at home - many days I don’t put the contax in - they last just fine for 2 months. The key is cleaning with, and storing in, the cleaning fluid, not ordinary saline. And the opto told me to rub them gently, even if using the ‘no-rub’ formula.
