I guess Euty would be geezer moderating then when he posts
Yeah.
And get off my lawn!
Now–Now some of these posts here are in violation of the Registration Agreement. Now, the Registration Agreement was modified back in '08–No, wait, it was '07–well, at any rate, some of these posts in this here thread–Oh, yes, I remember, it was '09, because of that one thread, you know, the big one, in the Pit, with, uh, whatshisname, and he really got into it…oh, my yes, he did. I believe he was banned, later. Yes, yes, it was '09. That was when the Registration Agreement had to be modified, you see, by Ed Zotti himself. Or was it Cecil Adams? I do believe Cecil Adams actually posted to that one thread, back in '08–back in '09, it was. The one in the Pit, I mean, back in '08. So the Registration Agreement has been modified, is my point. I believe the thread, in the Pit, was late in the year in '08, but the modification to the Registration Agreement, that happened in '09.
Did we ever re-instate whatshisname, you know, that one poster? Or did we ban him?
We can’t bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell 'em stories that don’t go anywhere - like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you’d say.
Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones…
He forgot where he put that years ago.
I’ve shown criticism of Czarcasm’s arguments in ATMB before, but I think all the accusations of junior moderating are a little too far - but that may just be because don’t see any good description of what junior moderating actually is. Any mods/admins want to weigh in on a better definition of what JM is? Is “presenting oneself as a board moderator” a decent enough benchmark, or does it need to be more encompassing?
At least the larger amount of substantiated ones should remain the same
That doesn’t make any sense-how could the number of unsubstantiated ones be less than zero?
I hate to say it, but I agree with Czarcasm. I don’t think I’ve seen him junior moderate more than once. And, in that, he was just appearing more authoritative than he should be–it was a matter of just still sounding like he was modding. ( I can’t remember the specifics.)
Most of what people called junior moderating was more an attitude thing that he shared with some of the more vocal mods. The attitude that all of us posters are little children who need parenting rather than adults who get carried away or just disagree. By posting about the rules with that attitude, it just felt like he was trying to moderate.
In fact, it was that attitude that led me to believe that he still wanted to be a moderator, and why I said I wasn’t surprised when he came back for a little bit. It seemed to me that he still thought of himself a moderator who chose to give up moderating than a regular poster who had once been a moderator.
In his defense, he’s a lot better about that now. Anything left that’s annoying about him just seems to be his real personality.
Not as much as he hates you saying it.
It’s getting kind of late, and it’s already 8 in the morning, so shouldn’t you be eating dinner and getting ready for bed?
Noto before Perry Mason/Matlock.
Why did I understand that?
Because you had to think about it for 3 weeks?
I dunno - some of his moderating when he was a mod should have counted as junior modding.
Should we blame the government, or blame society?
Or should we blame the images on TV?
ETA: and that was before I noticed that you were being accused of banning Canada this morning.
The song of the mods?
Gee, Officer Krupke, we’re very upset;
We never had the love that every
Child oughta get.
We ain’t no delinquents,
We’re misunderstood.
Deep down inside us there is good!
So when do the wheelchair races start and who is the favorite ? My money is on TubaDiva.
Huh. When I first saw the thread title, the first thing that passed through my mind was a ‘one moderator to mod them all’ sort of thing; a special position of Senior Moderator who just went through the decisions of the other mods, overturning and reversing them as he saw fit.
I’ve always suspected that mods have a note or warning daily quota that is approved by their higher-ups.
We don’t.
