I kind of liked the “Is that your final answer” nature of the old boards. Being able to edit your replies has a cascade effect on subsequent replies. It enables you to say “I didn’t say that”. For example; on one of the old gun threads someone threatened to blow my head off (slight exaggeration) if I came within 20 feet of him. Now he can go back and threaten me with marshmallows. 
Besides, the new “preview” feature (which is great) gives one the chance to re-think one’s posts.
