Well, that story has been pushed down now, to make room for all kinds of In Search Of-type question headlines. You know, they aren’t actually saying we’re all going to die as a result of the Iran deal, they’re just asking the questions:
Giant headline: "Blink? Did Iran get the better of the US at nuclear poker table?
Slightly smaller but still main headlines: “US Wimpout on Iran Deal?”
“Is Iran Working With North Korea on Nukes?”
I am aware that they have a narrative to sell, but when it is this transparently nothing but snake oil, you really can’t help but imagine their new meetings involve people cartoonishly twiddling evil moustaches while laughing manically…
Ah yes, of course. Freddie Gray was a valuable informant. Which is why the cops broke his neck. And here you thought “snitches get stitches” was just a gang thang, but cops have effics too !
Just did a quick survey of the Cable News channels. Every single one (CNN, MSNBC, Al-Jazeera, BBC) have a red “Breaking News” banner trumpeting the just completed nuclear arms treaty with Iran. They are all interviewing world leaders (CNN has Lindsay Graham on, who is hammering it as a huge mistake).
Fox News? No mention of it at all. In fact, when I checked their channel, they were introducing the new Miss USA!, a contest ignored by almost everyone in the country but is a Donald Trump property, so they were throwing a bone to him rather than covering one of the most significant treaties enacted in the last 30 years.
Be prepared to discuss Miss Oklahoma today around the water cooler. You might want to bring up the Iran treaty, because your Fox News watching friends won’t know a thing about it.
PRESIDENT OBAMA staunchly defends the newly struck Iran nuclear deal, using a press conference to lecture critics and assembled media on the agreement — even admonishing a reporter who questioned his resolve on US prisoners left behind that ‘you should know better.’ "
Yup, sounds like a very even handed, legitimate newsource type headline.
Obama replied to Major Garrett (is that a real fucking name?) that he should know better than to ask if Obama was “content” that American prisoners in Iran weren’t bargained for.
Nice out of context, misleading headlines. Yes, Fox “news” is really all that bad.
If we tied the prisoners to the arms deal, then that rewards countries for taking hostages.
And if the two issues were linked, and Obama had to say, “No deal” to the nuclear weapons agreement, it would give the appearance of walking away from the fate of the prisoners.
The demands by the right wing (and religious hate-radio types) for this linkage were incredibly ignorant, and extremely shitty negotiating strategy.
Is he concerned about those ferocious foreigners who come into our midst to cut the throats of our sons and wives ?
Because if so, he’s two days late, Bastille Day was tuesday. And anyway, I’m not sure watering our furroughs with their impure blood is FDA approved.
Another day, another Fox deception…
Megyn Kelly didn’t let a little thing like integrity stand in the way of her vicious grandstanding against Planned Parenthood after a deceptively edited video falsely seemed to portray the organization ** selling fetus’ body parts.**
As documented on Media Matters, the video for public consumption is highly edited and the full version demonstrates that there was nothing illegal discussed. The version being pimped by Fox doesn’t include comments, from the Planned Parenthood employee, about how the tissue samples are used for medical research (the polio vaccine was made with fetal tissue) and obtained with the patient’s consent.
“Late in the day, the Live Action-offshoot group released a longer video. It shows that the Planned Parenthood staffer was talking in the ** context of stem cell research**, and was talking about standard reimbursement rates for costs associated with tissue donation — all of which was edited to change the meaning.”
Truth be told, even if Fox’s description was accurate, I find myself rather less than shocked. Stem cell research is a hugely promising field and PP has a price list reflecting their costs. Big deal.
