Is ham poisonous to dogs?

Ok, I sit corrected.

[Off topic] Does this apply to all types of schnauzer or just the minatures? We’ve had black standards for years and I’ve not come across this. [/Off topic]

The only thing those two dogs are thinking is, “mmmm ham!”

My recently rescued pitbull does the same thing. She also runs around behind me to sniff my butt if I rip one. That makes me LOL. I’m a grown woman, but I have the sense of humor of a 10-year-old boy. Apparently, my dog finds farting as entertaining as I do.

Minis and Standards, apparently. Giants aren’t especially risky for pancreatitis but they are more susceptible to epilepsy. According to this study (pdf), Minis are 55 times more likely and Standards 17 times more likely to get pancreatitis than average.

My dog farts SBDs, and surprisingly only recently has my wife learned to distinguish them, having always given me an accusatory admonision.

I see the makings of a lovely hijack here…

I’m surprised that no one mentioned the dangers of feeding your dog zombie ham. Are we not doing that anymore? Sorry, I haven’t been too active here lately, I guess I missed the memo.

Sooo … yeah, don’t feed your dogs ham.

Leo, SBD’S?

Silent But Deadly

On the topic of Doag Faats…

My cocker spaniel Rugby has been known on occasion to fartle™ himself. This is where he farts and by so doing manages to startle himself, looking around in confusion for the source of the noise. It should be noted that Rugby, while sweet and lovable, is also generally considered to be breathtakingly dumb…

We have to be super-careful not to give the Granddaughter’s dawg any grease or fat.

Dogs do not tolerate fat well at all. My son’s mutt use to puke up a greasy meal on Son’s bed. Granddaughter’s dawg gets the gut-rumbles, sometimes for DAYS.

A friend told of a story where her dog jumped up on the dining table when nobody was looking and ate an entire stick of butter. The aftermath was horrendous.

Let your doggies enjoy a snack of holiday ham. But do not let them have the ham bone, and under no circumstances give them ANY fat whatsoever.

Or else.

Any relation?

Did they use a shock collar on that dog?

I thought the vid seemed odd. Sadly, I think it is. I’m not against shock collars used correctly and with the appropriate dog, but these guys think it’s funny to fuck up a sleeping small dog, and probably make it neurotic about its body’s functions.
