Granted, I would expect Huber to mostly say, “I cannot talk about an active investigation.” But we might get some sense of what’s what by where he’s the most open and where he’s the most evasive.
The open request for whistleblowers sounds like a bit of an open invitation to anyone willing to spin a tale. Usually, you hold a hearing because a whistleblower came to you or the press, you don’t just make an open announcement to the world asking who wants to be on TV. So, not to say that someone legitimate won’t show up, but I think it’s fair to say that the Republicans are trying to have a lost hurrah before the House flips over, more than they think that there’s some overwhelming reason to perform the status update right now.
