Granted, I would expect Huber to mostly say, “I cannot talk about an active investigation.” But we might get some sense of what’s what by where he’s the most open and where he’s the most evasive.

The open request for whistleblowers sounds like a bit of an open invitation to anyone willing to spin a tale. Usually, you hold a hearing because a whistleblower came to you or the press, you don’t just make an open announcement to the world asking who wants to be on TV. So, not to say that someone legitimate won’t show up, but I think it’s fair to say that the Republicans are trying to have a lost hurrah before the House flips over, more than they think that there’s some overwhelming reason to perform the status update right now.

It’s wonderfully convenient that this investigations should happen exactly when Ivanka has been busted for using a private email account to discuss government business. I completely expect that Mark Meadows will use his remaining days of power to examine all of Ivanka’s emails to ensure that no classified information was present in any of them. If he is too busy then I am positive a large number of committees will take up the job of examining her conduct and that of her father, who also used private phones, and the others in his administration who have not followed the proper procedures. I further believe that the earth is flat, that 0.999~ is not equal to 1, and that the WTC was taken down by a radioactive spider bite.
