Is is safe to wear white yet?

As the saying goes, you’re not supposed to wear white after Labor Day. When is it considered okay to start wearing it again?

In theory - Memorial Day.

Personally, I don’t pay any attention to that, but if you saw the way I dressed, you’d discount anything I say regarding fashion.

I thought it was after Easter… 'Cause all the ladies wore their pretty white… (whatevers) to Church?

Isn’t there a commercial where Kathy Ireland tells these two women on the street that it’s okay to wear white anytime?

Nah, the original fashion rule was for Memorial Day, but times have changed. Living out here in L.A., we generally ignore the rule.

Ivylass , I saw that commercial too. And if the TV tells me so, it’s settled.

ms manners says, NO white shoes before may 30th. unless you are a nurse, tennis player, or a bride.

sneakers are no longer white after one wearing.

For me, it is never safe to wear white. It guarantees I dump the coffee mug, dribble pasta sauce, or lean against a dirty car–early in the morning, of course, so I can walk around like a dufus all day.

As far as fashion goes, I personally don’t care. I’m more concerned about people wearing white shoes with dark hose than if they wear them in gasp the wrong season.

The rule was Memorial Day, but I exceptions are made for Easter, because it’s no fun to wear drab colors for Easter. I wear white whenever I want to, though, so I ignore a lot. Usually, it’s dark colors for winter and white for spring/summer.

It’s safe to wear white after the last snow melts, the salt’s all gone, and all the mud dries up. Before that, pastels aren’t a great idea either.
