You hallucinate on meth because of the sleep deprivation. If they had just taken it that night, they would not be hallucinating. They probably had been taking it for several days and hadn’t slept, and therefore they were hallucinating.
I’ve taken LSD and experienced those hallucinations. They are easily recognized for what they are–hallucinations.
I’ve taken meth and stayed up for days and experienced those hallucinations. YOU FUCKING BELIEVE THEY ARE REAL, NO MATTER HOW IMPLAUSIBLE! I honest to god thought at one point that half of my old drama class from high school had gotten together outside my window (this is years after high school) and were singing to me to try to freak me out. They’d run and hide whenever I looked out the window. But they could see my reactions because they’d installed hidden cameras in the lamps in my house. No, really, they did! Or at least I believed they did.
But it’s also likely that they did. I have seen people walking along the side of the road who weren’t there, deer who turned out to be fenceposts… I once thought the people across the street were having a huge party with lots of people in their yard. Turns out it was just their fence and trees I was seeing.
*note: I spent a period of just under a year during which I did meth with varying amounts of frequency. This was all in the early '90s.
They most certainly are rude! I called one this morning because I needed to report child abuse CURRENTLY taking place, and she told me that I was abusing the 911 service by calling about that, and basically rushed me off the phone. This man punched his 4-year-old daughter in the head twice, then hit her again because she was crying in pain! And I’m ABUSING this service? This was an emergency! This woman should be fired!
This woman was very condescending and downright rude. It is a shame that people with legitimate concerns are talked to like we’re naughty children who need to be disciplined.
I am at least grateful that I reported the abuse to someone willing to listen.
