Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and I (Rand Paul) don’t agree on much, but I thought he did a great job of describing the Fed and the bank bailouts as: “A clear case of socialism for the rich and rugged, you’re on your own individualism for everyone else.”

Well, when the auditor came to Congress, she was asked the identity of the debt bought by the Fed. She didn’t know.
When pressed on the case she responded, “We do not have the jurisdiction to directly go and audit reserve bank activities.”
There is a difference between auditing and standing over their shoulder.
Their role as inspector general is the same as it is for any other inspector general. Are you asking for an audit that exceeds what we do for government agencies generally? The role of the inspector general is to detect fraud waste abuse. What fraud waste or abuse is going on at the fed?

All this audit the fed nonsense is propelled by Austrian school thought that doesn’t like the fact that the fed engages in monetarist policies (using money supply and interest rates to regulate the economy). And quite frankly these Austrian school folks will get put back in the corner when there is a Republican administration in power and the Republicans want a good healthy economy once again. But for now they want the country to suffer and associate Obama with that suffering.
Most of what people hate about her is that she is really bad at lying and yet her chosen profession requires that she does it very well. She is skating by purely on competency and hard work, its disgusting. I can’t name very many successful mainstream candidates that are not at least as deceptive as her. There are plenty of unsuccessful ones though. Kinda sad really.
That’s all she cares about, you can rant and rail about whatever you want but in the end, as long as you think she is sufficiently better than Trump or Cruz to get off your ass and vote for you, she considers you a Hillary supporter.
What exactly did she do that was so competant? She became first lady because her husband was the president. She got elected senator because her husband was a former president. She tried to run for president, and managed to blow a seemingly insurmountable head of momentum and lose to some unknown guy from Illinois. She became Secretery of State… well… probably again because her husband was a former president, or else in order to get her out of the way politically so she couldn’t stab Obama in the back. She left after the first term, and is still dogged by a series of scandals related to her term as Secretery of State. She is currently under investigation by the FBI.
So, what competancy were you talking about, again?
I can go along with the hard work but I’ve seen nothing but the minimal level of competency at best thus far. IMNSHO she is remarkably unaccomplished for someone who has spent so long in positions of power. There is nothing of significance that has happened in this world due to Hillary Clinton.
And Damuri, I am still on the fence if this is a Trump/Clinton election, as are many others. I don’t have much hope Teh Donald can turn his image around in the general, but if tries he could reach the point where I’d vote for him. Even if not I think we’d be better off weathering a Trump presidency instead of Clinton one that is likely to hand over the reins to a destructive Republican just the way her husband did.
And just the thought of that choice makes me feel bad for future generations. What a pile of pigshit we have created.

I agree that politically speaking, she achieved her positions right up to the 2008 election by virtue of being married to a popular Democratic ex-President. But losing to Barack Obama is not the result of a lack of competence, it was the result of an overabundance of competence on Obama’s part.
Her competence was on full display during the Benghazi hearings. its only 11 hours, you should watch it. When has she ever shown incompetence in anything? Losing an election to Obama is not a sign of incompetence, it is a sign of mortality.

Well I’m voting Bernie in the primary and Hillary in the general. There is always the chance that she gets indicted and gets forced to bow out of the race.
Not a thing. But Bernie has good ideas at least. And Trump has accomplished real things. That’s why he gets criticized for his failures, because he does more than talk. I wish he would talk differently though.
Yes, his irresponsibility turned the country over to Bush. Best possible outcome was turning it over to that goop Gore. Still would have been better than Bush though, but probably not by much.
Bill didn’t give us much. He benefited from two bubbles that burst after he left office, sent our economy to other countries, packed our prisons, and waited in the getaway car while Wall St. robbed us blind.
It’s the opposite, Hillary looks good because of the mud slung at her because those Republican morons can’t tell fact from fiction. Hillary fans are convinced that there’s nothing there at all. She has an atrocious record of irresponsible and dishonest behavior.
If that happens before the convention I’ll be ecstatic, but that’s unlikely. It won’t happen before Nov. either, and probably never. So we’ll end up with her as president and the GOP will fall apart, and we’ll all be happy with that as we send our paychecks directly to Wall St. and foreign countries.
So why does Hillary need to have “accomplishments”?
Bush or Gore were the only options he left us? What was the hypothetical third option? Staying for a third term? I don’t understand how you think Bill ruined it for us. Its pretty well established by popular opinion that Nader threw the election from Gore to Bush.
By that standard there isn’t a politician anywhere since WWII that has done a goddam thing for anyone.

She is no more dishonest or irresponsible than the typical politician AFAICT. She is no more dishonest than any politician in my lifetime besides Carter, Obama and HW Bush (maybe Ford). But every other president since at least JFK has been a dishonest son of a bitch. I’d still vote for some of them but I’m not trying to pick the pope.
If the FBI recommends charges and the justice department declines, the FBI director has already indicated that he would resign in protest (as would several of his career FBI deputies). If its going to happen I hope it happens before the convention. It might be difficult rally the troops around a new nominee after the convention.
BTW, if she does drop out of the race, Bernie will probably STILL have problems getting the nomination. There are more than a couple of people waiting to jump into the race. Bloomberg and Biden seem like likely possibilities.
I’m betting they’ll draft Joe Biden. He’s likeable, if a bit of a doofus, and since his son died recently it’s unlikely even Trump would go after him too strongly. It’ll still come off looking like a desperation move, however.
And they might already be working on that. Today’s reports are that the DOJ has given immunity to one of Hillary’s aides, plus they were taking about the specifics of how so much classified info got onto her server. It seems that Hillary & her aides were sharing passwords to “jump the gap” between the secure State Department servers and Hillary’s private server in her home. Apparently, that sort of thing is a huge violation of State Department security protocols.
Hillary’s problems are starting to get real. Might want to keep the popcorn handy…
Yeah like ANYTHING can divert attention away from what’s going on in the Republican race. But yeah, she might be in trouble. It won’t be good for the Democrats to have to switch horses and Hillary has a bunch of followers that will feel cheated if she doesn’t get the nomination, indictment or no.
Because it tells me something about the competence and judgment of the candidate. It’s not always important, but it is when the candidate claims to have a long list of accomplishments and I can’t find any worth mentioning.
Given the circumstances when the campaign season began you could blame Ralph, and you can blame the idiot Democrats in Florida who can’t make a ballot, and plenty of others also. That dumb ass Al Gore or any other Democrat should have been able to waltz into the White House except Bill couldn’t keep it in his pants.
