Hillary email redux, will it have any effect?

Was watching this video by the Young Turks about recent Hillary email releases. If you aren’t familiar with the channel or with the guy speaking, Cenk Uygur, he’s no big fan of Trump and generally is a big supporter of the Democratic party. Full disclosure, he (IMHO) was a big Bernie supporter and I think is less than thrilled with Hillary. However, as he says, he’s just reporting the news and certainly doesn’t want to see Trump win. Here is the description from the YouTube page if it’s too long to watch:

There are also links in there to the articles and email in question. My question is, will this have any sort of impact on Clinton? The more I see about this email thing the more I get nervous…it seems to me to be a ticking time bomb, or at least has the potential to be. The only saving grace is Trump is such an ass that he’s sinking his own run…down 10 points nationally from what I saw recently, and down locally in most of the key states, and even some red states. But this Clinton thing just won’t die and, the more that’s revealed the worse it looks. Thoughts?

(My apologies if this has already been done in another thread…I know there is a Clinton email thread but it seems to have fallen off the page and I didn’t see anything about this latest thing. If it’s been covered or is being covered, Mods, feel free to close this)

This isn’t an “email” issue. If borne out, the question is whether allegations of possible conflict of interest or even corruption will coalesce to the point that they affect her campaign. Email is just the medium.

The next step down the scandal ladder from finding someone a patronage job is, I dunno, maybe using expired coupons at Wendy’s.

I’d love for Clinton to sit down with the press and get this thing behind her. Remember in 2008 when questions circled about Obama’s land deal with Tony Rezko? (Anyone? Just me?) Obama sat down with reporters from the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun Times and just stayed at the table as long as it took before everything was cleared. I’d love to see Clinton do something like that. I’d love to feel like this is done and some dark thing isn’t going to drop and people can get on with the business of winning in November. And I include “email” here because these were retrieved deleted emails gained by the FBI which ties it into the greater issue.

However, the stuff in the recently released emails is nothing. You have to pretty much preface it by saying “This emails shows corruption and buying power!” because if you led off with “Hey, a Nigerian billionaire maybe got to talk to the ambassador to Nigeria” no one would care. If you just had “someone was sniffing around about a job”, no one would care. That’s not stuff that I see moving the needle.

So, yes, I’d love to see the whole thing addressed but no I don’t think that these specific emails are very meaningful.

If this gets much media coverage at all, The Donald will become incensed, and will do whatever it takes to grab the spotlight back.

Maybe find a major Christian evangelical leader to insult or something. He needs to ramp it up a bit.

No, it won’t, nor should it.

I bet she already has a pardon for herself written up so when she’s arrested after she is president she’ll just have Huma do the proper filing to pardon her.

Judicial watch is a “legal watchdog group”…LOL! Okay. And the NRA and Family Research Council are civil rights watchdog groups.

Meh, it might have some effect for a few days, but people already assume that this is what the Clintons do. We’re not breaking ground here.

when billionare is Gilbert Chagoury it matters.
he was Marc Rich partner…a big $$ crook Slick Willie pardoned on last day as potus.
Chagoury and Clinton Foundation are linked since then.
Clinton Cash goes into all that . movie was on free site a while back . ??

we’ll see if smoking gun surfaces w/ future emails / etc.

I haven’t seen the movie of “Clinton Cash” (there’s also a graphic novel, for your viewing pleasure,) but the book was so full of errors that the publisher, Harper Collins made the author put out a revised Kindle version.

http://www.politico.com/story/2015/05/clinton-cash-publisher-corrects-7-or-8-inaccurate-passages-117946

For example:

Harper Collins says that it’s not unusual for books to be revised and updated but Amazon characterized the revisions as “significant” when it told customers that the Kindle version is being updated. And of course, the faulty original print version is still circulating.

At the very least, it seems clear that the book’s research was rush in order to get it on the shelves before the election.

yeah… movie might be too much for the average Clinton fan.

until new emails surface anyway . ??

To say nothing of the fact that Clinton Cash’s author, Peter Schweizer, has a long history of making evidence-free and discredited claims about the Clintons and other Democrats.

credibility and truth… from David Brock & Media Matters ?

The article cites its sources fully.

Which of them do you specifically take issue with?

none.

It’s got nothing to do with the format. I cited evidence that the book, Clinton Cash, has numerous factual errors, necessitating urgent changes in the electronic edition. The claims by the author are unreliable.
Speaking of which - this whole thread is based on assertions by Judicial Watch, which has been filing lawsuits about the Clintons for twenty some years now. Other hard hitting investigations on the Judicial Watch site include:

  • The Obama IRS Scandal

  • The Benghazi Coverup (get your free report!)

and my favorite:

  • District of Corruption: The new Judicial Watch blockbuster feature documentary, District of Corruption, directed by Stephen K. Bannon, lays bare the lawless and unconstitutional Obama administration and makes the case for more openness, integrity, and honesty in government and leads the way for changing the climate of corruption that has gripped Washington, D.C. for far too long.
I can’t think of any reason to trust their interptertation of this latest email “scandal”.

movie is prolly not for you i guess.

Presumably what would make it interesting is if Clinton was paid to do these things (and whether a donation to the foundation counts as such). Bob McDonnell was indicted over a quid pro quo from a donor, after all

Hillary email redux, will it have any effect?
No. (Other than to give the ‘news’ media something to blather about for a day or two.)

But the people who support Hillary have long ago decided that this email ‘scandal’ is a meaningless attack, and will just ignore it.
And the people who get all excited & upset about this are those who already support Trump, and would never have voted for Hillary anyway.

So it won’t change any votes. No effect.

As they say, the real outrage is what’s legal. At least the Democrats have made it clear they no longer seek to change Washington. They’ve even abandoned the rhetoric. The Democratic Party is now fully invested in the business as usual culture of Washington.
