Looking back to my first post, i didnt quite answer the question, which was: Is it ok to have WMD if you are considered a “sane” country?
I dont see why anyone should have these weapons, they are incredibly destructive, and we have had some close calls in the past when we could have launched some nukes by accident. I think our conventional weapons are good enough for war, nukes are overkill and only meant for total devestation…

Our views are similar. I only meant to show that the particular snippet I posted was odd.

its kinda like, “I dont want any violence, be peaceful or I’ll knock your head off!”
There is a good addage, “Si vis pacem Para Bellum” meaning if you wish for peace, prepare for war. It never actually says wage war to get peace.
As far as World War II was concern, we didnt start the war, we just ended it.
OH as far as the Push for war going too fast.
