No, I don’t mean a certain poster here, but the animal! I realize that one would need a ladder to get on the thing’s back, but would giraffe’s take to such a thing and has anyone ever tried it?
how would you get the bridle and bit on to steer the thing?
A good friends cousin rode a moose once. The moose was swimming across a lake where the guy was canoing. They paddled close, and he jumped out and swam to the moose and hopped on.
Clearly, the moose didn’t like this but couldn’t do much about it while swimming. As he got closer to shore, the guy jumped off and swam back to the canoe.
You could try this with a giraffe, I don’t know how well they swim but they can. You might be under water on a giraffe’s back, it depends how low their backs lay in the water when swimming.
(I know this isn’t directly related to the OP, but how often do you get to tell the story of a guy who rode a moose?)
Giraffes don’t have the one thing all other ‘pack’ animals have, a flat back. Here is the best picture I could find and there doesn’t look like there is much seating room.
In one of his early 1960s Tarzan movies, Gordon Scott was shown briefly on the back of a rather young giraffe. Neither one seemed too pleased with the experience and it was a very short clip.
On the other hand, if you could somehow strap yourself on one, think of the view as you gallop over the plains.
