Is it possible to set the search timeout to use a burst quota?

I don’t know if the underlying software of this board permits this improvement. But I often misclick or want to search my posts for replies, and there’s this 2 minute timeout on searches. This can feel like a long time. (#firstworldproblems)

It would work better if there was something like a “burst quota”. Say you start with the ability to make 10 searches. Each time you search, you have 1 less search available. Each time 2 minutes passes, if you have less than 10 searches available, you get 1 more search.

It equates to the same load on the board’s underlying servers but allows a specific user to make several searches in quick succession.

Underlying software: I don’t know.
Underlying owner/operators: no, for various reasons. *
Best bet: Use google search

  • Sorry, it sounds snarky, but it’s not. You can search for the reasons why by – oh wait…

I don’t have access to the admin control panel, but my understanding is that there is one timer value that you can configure, and that’s it. There’s no option for anything fancy like a burst quota.
