Is it presumptuous to apply for a job that's a huge jump up?

Fixed that for ya.

EDIT:

Mr. Utter?

You forgot reeking patron, paperwork, and disrespectful teenagers with skateboards.

Oh, and also the roof is leaking.

Damn, our roof was leaking last week. You’re right, how could I forget that one.

And I believe I’ve ranted in the Pit about reeking patron.

What about technologically impaired patron? He/she’s never fun.

Late to the party, as you’ve already applied, but I did want to agree with others that it is a good idea to apply. Even if you don’t get it, it gets you on the radar as someone who is actively looking to move.

I applied for my old manager’s position a couple years ago. I didn’t get it, but I did get the chance to put into the management structure’s heads that I was looking to move up. Since then, they’ve been very supportive about getting me the opportunities I need to work on my career path.

Another one for the chorus of “I’m glad you applied.” I’ve been in the situation of being told I hadn’t been offered a promotion because since I hadn’t been jumping up and down saying I wanted one, the boss thought I didn’t :smack: He was American; in Spain asking for promotions when none are being advertised is considered gauche at best but he was expecting it. In this case you’re even asking for an advertised opening!

If you get it, remember that your main target is to do a good job - not a contest of “who has the trimmer ass”

Probably not exactly the attitude they’re looking for in a level 3. You might want to adopt a more professional manner during the interview.

Uh, yeah, that was entirely my interview plan.

Huh?

My 9th grade math teacher. Taught me Some Old Hippie…, had previously worked in construction and moved out to New Mexico after he retired. A lot of little coincidences, but I guess you’re not him.
