I don’t know how else to explain it. Historical injustices impact how people deal with each other now. It creates a power dynamic where there shouldn’t be one.
Not anymore. This is 21st century. That was absurd, I don’t know which era are you living in. I am not even sure that you aren’t trolling here.
I don’t know what to tell you. I grew up in a racially homogeneous area. I didn’t really think about race. Then I went off to college about 20 years ago, and heard regularly that “institutionalized racism” was everywhere, and that people of other races have special needs, and it’s not their job to educate us what those special needs are.
I’ve never looked at race the same since. As I said, dating and relationships are supposed to be at least a little bit fun. Thinking about this isn’t fun at all.
But educated, aware people like yourself shouldn’t be having such thoughts/doubts at the first place, dont you think?
On the contrary - I learned that I always have a duty to think about race, and to unpack the invisible knapsack of white privilege. Something like that.
It’s exhausting. I don’t want to always have to be wondering how my privilege is affecting my dealings with someone. I just want to enjoy their company. I don’t have to worry about any of this with my partner.
Not really, albinism doesn’t always result in pure white hair, there’s plenty of instances of orange-y and yellow-ish haired albinos.
But again, nobody is telling you to date anybody you don’t feel like dating. I’m just saying that all of your reasons come from prejudice, just like prejudice tints the world-view of everybody else.
You don’t have to confront your prejudices, you don’t have to do anything at all about them. But they are there and you still deny that they exist, or imply that your own particular prejudices shouldn’t be classified as such.
BTW, In the 1930s the Pahartali European Club in India had a sign board that read “Dogs and Indians not allowed”. most of us indians are aware of this. I guess thts worse than hanging from trees to see white women.
sure, its your right. I find it absurd and unnecessary in present day and age.
Man, this is the living example of “a little knowledge is a tedious thing.”
attracted in a sexual way? merkans definitely.
