I’m pretty sure he said “the American South”, so that is for whom he is speaking.
I’d echo his statements for the American West, so much that I still don’t fully understand your problem with this. I’ve read the posts and the only thing I get is “guns are bad, m’kay?”. You may not feel that way, but nothing else is coming through here.

I think the existence of these raffles in general signifies and helps perpetuate a disturbing attitude about gun ownership in this country.
Yes, I live in a state without a strong “gun culture,” and this probably affects my views. But still. Owning a gun is something that people should approach with thought and trepidation.

“Trepidation” forsooth. It’s about gun ownership, not about the raffle.
