Is it Science .. Art .. or somthing else ?

I believe that science can be defined in as little as two words which completely define it … i_____ and f_____ , and these are not r or x rated words, please :-). If you need to use more than two words, that is ok, you’ll just lose! Beside the two words ( assume words, including the word science itself, are ok to use ), which of the following areas (please don’t over analyze them, stick to basic concepts) can really be defined as a science and why? Remember my wording isn’t a science either! Also, consider all events governed by v<<c vs v~c as the same for the sake of this argument, even though they may seem to differ, see another thread … Newton vs Relativity … something like that I think …

  1. Art
  2. Medicine
  3. Physics
  4. Accounting
  5. Medical Research
  6. Legal/Law
  7. History
  8. Chemistry
  9. Engineering
  10. Welding
  11. Tax Forms
  12. Orbital Mechanics
  13. Language
  14. Clothes Design
  15. Thermodynamics
  16. Religion
  17. Philosophy
  18. Mathematics
  19. Politics
  20. HVAC

These are enough, for now, to illustrate a science vs something else …

DeutchFox, is this a riddle or puzzle, to which you already know the answer, and are just trying to entertain us by asking? If so, then it belongs in the MPSIMS forum. Alternately, is this a question about the philosophical nature of science, and what separates it from art or other fields of human endeavor? In that case, it belongs in the Great Debates forum. Let me know which it is, and I’ll move it for you.

Based on an e-mail from the OP, it looks like this thread would be best suited to the Great Debates forum. I’ll move it there.
